Namibia Community Based Tourism Assistance Trust (NACOBTA)
“Is a non-profit membership organisation which supports communities in their efforts to develop and operate tourism enterprises profitably as well as sustainably”. It is established under a Deed of Trust and has an independent Board of Trustees.

Background
NACOBTA was started in 1995 by communities who wanted to develop tourism enterprises in the previously neglected rural (communal) areas of Namibia.
Goal: To improve the living standards of the people of Namibia.
Objectives:
• Ensure the success of Community Based Tourism Enterprises and sound collaboration with the mainstream tourism industry
• Source and disseminate relevant information to CBTEs
• Facilitate needs based, purpose driven services
• Enhance the capacity of service providers
• Advocate at policy level in terms of the community based tourism sector
NACOBTA provides a number of important support services:
Training: tourism, business skills, tour guiding
Business advice: business plans, product development, financial management & administrative systems.
Marketing: brochures, website, trade fairs, advertising.
Funding: assist with access to start up funding for infrastructure & product development.
Advocacy: lobbying government & private sector.
